Cookie policy

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies include local storage in your browser and pixels embedded in pages. Cookies can be "first-party" (set by this site) or "third-party" (set by another service whose content appears on the site). They can be "session" cookies, which disappear when you close your browser, or "persistent" cookies, which last until they expire or you delete them.

2. What we use

Strictly necessary

• Site functionality. Our hosting platform, Vercel, may set short-lived cookies needed to route requests and protect against abuse. These don't identify you.
• Donations (Stripe). When you begin a donation, you are taken to a secure checkout page operated by Stripe. Stripe sets cookies on its own domain for fraud prevention and to remember your session during checkout. Stripe's privacy policy and cookie policy apply.
• Foster application (Jotform). The foster application is a Jotform form embedded on this site. Jotform sets cookies needed to run the form, save your progress and prevent spam. Jotform's privacy policy applies.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages are visited and where visitors come from. It does not use cookies or any persistent identifier. It works by creating a temporary hash from the incoming request that is discarded within 24 hours, so visitors can't be tracked across days or across sites.

Preferences stored in your browser

The site uses your browser's local storage (not a cookie) for two conveniences: remembering whether you've already seen the opening animation during this visit, and keeping your unfinished adoption application on your device so you can return to it. That draft is cleared when you submit, and it never leaves your device until you do.

What we don't use

• No advertising cookies or ad networks.
• No Facebook, TikTok or Google advertising pixels.
• No cross-site tracking or data brokers.
• No cookies from embedded social media feeds. Links to Instagram, TikTok and Facebook are plain links that open those services in a new tab.

3. Your choices

Because we don't set optional cookies, there's nothing to opt out of on our side. You can still control cookies through your browser settings: most browsers let you block or delete cookies for all sites or for specific ones. Blocking all cookies may stop the Stripe checkout or the Jotform applications from working; if that happens, you can still donate by Venmo or Zelle and apply by contacting us directly at info@letsrescuedogs.net.

4. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We don't sell or share personal information for targeted advertising. There is nothing for a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal to switch off; we treat every visitor the same way regardless of those settings.

If we change what we use, we update this page first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
