Let's Rescue Dogs is a 501(c)(3), all-breed rescue that takes in critically injured, sick and abused dogs from shelters and streets across Southern California. We get them the medical care they need, place them in foster homes, and stay with them until they're adopted.

Dogs looking for a home
Every dog here has been seen by a vet, spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, and is living with a foster family who knows them well. Adoptions happen by appointment, and we adopt to all 50 states and Canada if you're able to travel to meet your dog.

The dogs we take in
Most of our dogs have nowhere else to go. Some come to us from the street or from encampments, some from shelter kennels where they have gone weeks without a walk, and some from hoarding situations where they have never been on a leash or felt grass under their feet.
Many arrive with injuries or illnesses that need surgery before a shelter can even list them for adoption, and some are already on the euthanasia list when we get the call. Those are the dogs this rescue was started for.
We're a small rescue, and we can't take every dog we hear about. When we do take one in, we see it through: the vet care, the recovery, the foster home, and the right family at the end of it.

Why our dogs live in foster homes
We don't have a shelter or a boarding facility, and we don't want one. A dog recovering from surgery, or from years of neglect, does far better in a quiet house with a person than in a kennel. So every dog we rescue goes straight into a foster home.
Our fosters provide the space, the routine and the patience. We provide everything else: food, a crate, a bed, medication and every vet visit, at no cost to the foster. Because the dogs live in real homes, we also learn what they're really like, which makes for better adoptions.
How many dogs we can save depends directly on how many foster homes we have.

How you can help
The rescue is run entirely by volunteers and funded entirely by donations. Whatever you have to offer, there's a dog who needs it.
- Fosterour biggest needOpen your home to one dog until they're adopted. We cover the food, the supplies and all of the vet care. Foster homes are what we need most.
- AdoptFill out an application, talk with us, meet the dog near their foster home, and take them home for a seven-day trial.
- DonateMonthly gifts let us say yes to an emergency surgery on the day a shelter calls. One-time gifts help pay for the last one.
- VolunteerDrive dogs to vet appointments and foster homes (we reimburse gas), help at adoption events, take photos, or share our dogs online.
Where your donation goes
Let's Rescue Dogs is 100% donation-funded. Your gift pays for surgeries, X-rays and medication, for the food and supplies in our foster homes, and for the gas that gets dogs from shelters to vets to their new families. Keeping the rescue running costs about $25,000 a month.

If you find an injured, abandoned or stranded dog anywhere in Southern California, text a photo and the nearest cross streets to (562) 201-5131. Our volunteers read every message. We aren't a 24-hour dispatch, so please read our guide on what to do in the meantime.
