Volunteer
A dog might be pulled from a shelter in one county, need surgery in another, and have a foster family waiting in a third. Someone has to drive every one of those legs, often on short notice. Our transport volunteers do that, with gas reimbursed, and they are the reason a rescued dog gets from the shelter to a home at all.
Ways to volunteer
You don't need any rescue experience. What we ask for is reliability, because there's a dog and a vet appointment on the other end of every job.
Transport
Picking dogs up from shelters, driving them to vet appointments, dropping off supplies, and bringing dogs to their foster or adoptive families. Trips range from twenty minutes to a couple of hours across county lines. We reimburse your gas. This is the role we're always short on, and it has its own application.
Adoption events
Handling a dog for a few hours, talking with visitors, and keeping the water bowls full. Usually a weekend afternoon.
Photos and video
Good photos get dogs adopted, and nervous dogs are hard to photograph well. If you can do it, we need you, even one afternoon a month.
Sharing dogs online
Posting our adoptable dogs on Nextdoor, in Facebook groups and on Instagram, from wherever you live. It works better than most people expect, and you don't need a car.
Professional skills
Vet techs, trainers, grant writers, bookkeepers and designers have all helped us. If you have a skill to offer and a couple of hours a month, let us know on the form.
